The advantage of a Simple HTML Site
There is much debate about this in the internet community, For many HTML sites are a thing of the past and content management systems are the way forward. For the Most part I will agree with this, but I believe that there are times when this may not be the case. Here is some advice from my experience about what you may be looking for.
User expectations - Technology has moved forward on the internet. People are now expecting more interaction when they go onto a website. The younger generation will certainly want more from the sites that they visit. If you know what type of person you are looking to target then, for example, the older generation will be more inclined to simpler websites.
Budget - Your budget will play an important role here, more complex websites will cost more. HTML sites are generally cheaper than Content management systems, not only in terms of finance, but also in time taken learning how to use a CMS. In theory you can set up your own blog or Joomla site. But this is a steep learning curve to get the site to the point where it is presentable as a professional site as well as meeting other requirement like being SEO.
Download speeds - HTML sites tend to be faster when it comes to viewing pages. They are not running off data bases and executing complex scripts. If you have an brochure site that is not going to be regularly updated, then having an HTML site would make sense. It would be far quicker to access and would be accessible to a wider range of people (some people are still on dial-up out there!!)
The design of your site - the type of design that you want for your site can also play a role in the decision you make. The likes of Joomla and Wordpress have some limitations on their design as the content is generated dynamically.
There are other points to consider here as well and many of these would be dependent on your goals for the site. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
